The other day toward evening, I was at home reading Grudem’s Systematic Theology just about to doze off when through my window I heard a shrill, nasal voice calling out, “Tamales! Tamales calientes!” Unable to believe my good fortune, I raced out to the alleyway and there found an abuelita selling fresh, hot tamales. I purchased some of pork and some of chicken and proudly returned home where I found my roommate.
“I just purchased a dozen tamales from a little old lady for ten bucks!” I announced.
A slightly puzzled look came over my roommate’s face and after a second he responded, “That was nice of you.”
