Ya’ll call, ya hear?

Yesterday afternoon working at the bookstore a lady asked me, “Are you from the South?”

“No,” I said, “it’s just that I’ve been taking phone orders from Texas, Louisiana and Alabama today, and it’s rubbed off on me.”

One particular lady had called that morning and said, “Ah’d lahk tah bahy a yooztuddy bahble.”

“I’m sorry,” I said, “we don’t carry used books. All our study Bibles are new.”

“But don’t ya’ll carry yooztuddy bahbles?”

“No, ma’am. But we can sell you a new study Bible.”

“But mah grahndaddah is tahrnin’ 13, and ah’d like to bahy her a yooztuddy bahble.”

“Well, we do carry the MacArthur Student Bible, that might be ideal for your granddaughter.”

“Thaht’s what ah waohnt. A yooztuddy bahble — Y. O. U. T. H., yooz.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I can help you with that.”
